Sodexo is very involved in Madagascar, a country where the majority of the inhabitants live below the poverty line and suffer from hunger and malnutrition.
About 15 million inhabitants live in Madagascar, mainly located in rural areas. 80% of the population are living under the poverty line. There are currently 46,000 people in Fort Dauphin (Tolagnaro) and this number will double or even triple before 2020.
The local population is facing a major nutrition crisis which could have catastrophic consequences for children's health due to insufficient food supplies in the area.
