Challenges

“Madagascar: mobile. . . ize for action” is a true Sustainable Development project which addresses economic, social and environmental issues at the same time.

An ECONOMIC challenge

The local economy in Madagascar can be highly stimulated by implementing a bovine industry in the area of Fort Dauphin.

An increase in meat demand by Sodexo Remote Sites will be a foundation stone to building and opening a new abattoir.

This economic development would also create a pool of employment in the area.

A SOCIAL challenge

The operation also includes measures for social progress for the local population:

  • nutritional education to improve food safety and nutrition levels,
  • training and qualifications to meet international foodservices standards.

An ENVIRONMENTAL challenge

There are 147 million mobile phones users in Europe and millions of new mobile phones are sold on the market.
Recycling mobiles is a “green action” that helps reduce pollution and protect our planet while abiding by the law at the same time.

Once collected, your old mobile phones will follow different paths:

  • When adjusted, they will be repackaged and redistributed on low purchasing power markets (through second-hand markets or by exportation to developing countries).
  • Some mobiles will only be worth their spare parts.
  • For others, the raw material will be re-used (copper, aluminium. . . )
  • Some non-recyclable material will be incinerated to produce energy.

Every participant is a fully-committed partner to the “Madagascar: mobile. . . ize for action” project. It's up to you to take part in Sustainable Development!
